How to Plan Meals for Three-Day Weekends with the Whole Family

Three-day weekends are great ways for families to unwind, plan short trips, or invite extended family over for a short stay. When you have to plan meals for yourself, your family, and any visitors, you’re taking care of at least nine meals featuring various grass fed farm meats. So, how do you plan those meals?

Breakfasts: Starting Strong

Breakfasts are easy to make well for a big group. Adjusting the portions is fairly smooth, too. A simple way to do some math would be to count two eggs for everyone who eats eggs, two sausages, sausage links, or bacon slices per person, and homemade carbs of some kind, like pancakes or waffles. If you want to prepare something different on the second day, consider changing the protein. Steak and eggs, anyone? Or how about breakfast burritos with grass-fed and finished ground beef?

Lunches: Catering to the Kids

Lunch is a great place to cater to younger tastes. Grill grass fed beef burgers, hot dogs, and pasture raised chicken drumsticks, and serve them with a simple side dish or get a little fancy with hand-sliced fried potatoes. A BBQ-style lunch is a great way to offer something for everyone. For the second day, switch things up with another build-your-own-style meal: Ground beef tacos. Keep things simple on the third day with leftovers or takeout.

Dinners: Getting Creative

Dinner is your chance to shine by serving some impressive meals. Preparing dinners at home may have you falling in love with the kitchen again (and getting all the nutrients you need). Prepare a flavorful chicken pesto pasta with fresh corn and soy free chicken, a homemade chicken Alfredo that you painstakingly oversaw to ensure the cheese didn’t overcook, or cook filet mignon for the adults, and let the kids enjoy a homemade mac-and-cheese.
